Norman B. Young MD, FACS

Dr. Young was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in suburban Hinsdale. After graduating from Trinity University in 1973 with a degree in Biology, he entered Chicago Medical School. Dr. Young then completed his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School (Parkland Memorial Hospital) in Dallas, Texas.

With his training complete in 1981, Dr. Young and his family moved to Reno to form Sierra Orthopedics with Dr. Larry McClish. Dr. Young is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America which fosters continuing education through labs and meetings in Sports Medicine.


Dr. Young is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also on the faculty of the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. Young specializes in Sports Medicine and has a very active Total Joint Replacement practice. He is member of the Total Joint Panel of St. Mary’s Hospital. Dr. Young performs Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee Replacements. Dr. Young also performs the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing Procedure. He is a bachelor and has three grown children, thankfully, all productive. Dr. Young's hobbies include golf, and playing mandolin in the bluegrass band, Contraband.
